EHDC Notice of Casual Vacancy in the Office of District Councillor
FROM EAST HERTS DISTRICT COUNCIL:
Notice is hereby given, pursuant to section 87(2) of the Local Government Act 1972, that a casual vacancy exists in the office of District Councillor for the Braughing and Standon Ward of East Hertfordshire District Council due to the resignation of Councillor Frankie Woolf.
A casual vacancy is filled by means of a by-election to elect a new member to fill the vacant seat on the council.
Requesting a By-Election A by-election is triggered by local government electors requesting a by-election to take place. This request can be made by two local government electors within the East Hertfordshire District Area (not just from the ward) giving notice in writing to the proper officer (see details below).
The Holding of a By-Election Once requests from two electors are received, the polling day for the by-election must be set at the Returning Officer's discretion within 35 working days of the date of receipt of the requests.
There is no time limit for receipt of the requests.
If requests are not received, the seat will remain vacant until the next ordinary Elections in 2027.
All requests for a by-election regarding this casual vacancy must be sent to the proper officer at the address below.
