The Passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

The Royal Household have announced the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II (Reigned 1952-2022).

The Standon Parish Council has issued the following statement:

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II: (Reigned 1952-2022)

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning British monarch, who meant so much to so many people in the United Kingdom and around the world.

Our deepest condolences are with His Royal Highness King Charles III and the whole of the Royal Family.

Throughout her reign, Queen Elizabeth II was guided by duty and public service. She acceded the throne as Britain was in the midst of a post-war recovery, before many of us were even born and, in 2022, marked a historic Platinum Jubilee.

We know many residents will be greatly affected by this news and the Parish Council stands with the nation in this period of mourning.

United Benefice of Standon and The Mundens with Sacombe

We have a condolence book in each of our churches, along with a framed photo. Our churches are open from 9.00 am until 8.00 pm for anyone who wishes to visit and spend time, light a candle if s/he wishes and / or sign the book. Today and over this weekend, the church will be manned between those times so that visitors can be welcomed.

We will be marking the death of the late Queen in special services in St Mary's this weekend at 10.30 am and next at 8.00 am, in St Catherine's, Sacombe on Tuesday at 9.30 am and in All Saints, Little Munden on 18th at 10.30 am.
