May Day Bank Holiday 2020

2020 May bank holiday will be moved to mark 75th anniversary of VE Day. The early May bank holiday in 2020 will move from Monday 4 May to Friday 8 May to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day.

The new bank holiday date will form part of a three-day weekend of commemorative events across the country to honour the incredible sacrifice men and women made during the Second World War.

The attached letter from HCC Environment & Infrastructure Department will be posted to residents in the next couple of days. The letter provides residents with more detail about the upcoming roadworks, in particular the closure of Upwick Green and The Ford.

Neighbourhood Plan - Latest News

Previously the Neighbourhood Plan would have to pass through the Council's democratic process before it is formally 'made'.

New guidance means that the Neighbourhood Plan comes into force as a statutory document immediately following approval at referendum and together with East Herts District Plan it will now be used to determine planning applications in our Parish.

Results of Neighbourhood Plan Referendum

Of the 833 ballot papers issued there were 797 'yes' votes, 34 'no' votes and 2 'spoilt'.

To translate that into percentages gives a 95.7% 'yes' vote against a 4.1% 'no' vote.

There was a 24% turnout of the 3400 parishioners eligible to vote.

New Pedestrian Crossing Station Road Standon.

The new Puffin crossing is now in operation and is being monitored by Ringway to ensure it is operating correctly. Our road safety team is sending the attached leaflet to local schools as well.
